Hi, all! So I’ve been wanting to get into 3d printing for a long time and finally got myself the Anet A8. Unfortunately, it’s not going very well. I’m not sure what’s wrong but here are the issues I can describe. 1. My print is not sticking at all. I have an aluminum bed covered with blue painters tape. I’ve spent the last 3 days trying every tip for bed leveling I can find, but I have no idea whether the bed is level or not, or how to tell (I even tried using an actual level). 2. I’ll use the paper test all over the bed and my extruder will seem to be right, with the paper able to move, but with slight tension. But when I try to print, the nozzle scrapes my tape off. I’m using the paper with the tape already on and the bed preheated. Slight adjustments will eventually stop ripping off the tape, but the print still does not stick. 3. When I start a print, the bed will move all the way back, and the machine will attempt to print just off the front left corner of the bed. How to I get this thing to print something other than tangles of plastic?

Hi, here are my suggestions:

1. check your z axis height when you level the bed maker sure it is the same height as your sliced object first layer height. (It could be that you level your printer z axis when the home z height is 0.8 which is greater than first object layer (as it was for me).

2. search for the right temperatures for your material to print with.

3. make sure you use the right first layer height and not less, try to lower or increase it in your slicer.

4. for kits only - make sure you placed the y limit switch (for the bed to stop) at the right side, usually 3d printers home each axis before they start to print, it might be that your (x0,y0) position is not above the bed.

Dan.
