Hi guys!
tomorrow I will participate @ Sunday Park in Milan where we’ll be printing customized 3D printed glasses for the event using a 3D scanner and 3 printers. I have found a lot of useful model where to start from on Thingiverse (like the awesome collection of party glasses by 3DHubs).
This is the plan:
-
First 3D scan the people that will take part to the workshop (we’ll usa a structure sensor and the itseez app)
-
we’ll then give them an outiline of the glasses on paper where they can sketch over some text or extra decorations
-
We’ll then add their sketch to our 3D model
-
Before printing we’ll check that the glasses are fitting to their face using the 3D scan (this is really cool to see since the scan has also a texture and give realistic feedback of the print before it’s produced! see the attached image)
-
I have optmized the design so that the model will be printed with no “base” or “roof”, so the infill pattern is completely visible. This way we can print one pair in only 27 minutes!
I’ll try to see how this works tomorrow but I think this could be another theme for the next 3DHubs Events…
Also has anybody tried something similar already? any tips or suggestion?
Pass by if you happen to be in Milan tomorrow!

Bringing the 3D Hubs party glasses to a 3D Hubs party sounds like something long overdue
It’s an awesome idea and I can’t wait to see how Sunday Park will turn out!
@Simona @Filemon @JulieSillam @Christian_CAD do you guys know of any past events with the party glasses?

Love this idea @Francesco_P, I’ll spread the word on our Italian Twitter account and inform people on the community team.
